The search bar is in the upper right hand corner of the current viewer. Enter a search term, key return, and your results will appear in a window. Alternatively, you can open a search window by typing CTRL-F on a Windows machine or apple key-F on a Macintosh.
Using Search
You can use Search to find locations and destinations (such as
SL Dragon!
campuses, shopping centers, nightclubs, meditation centers, museums, amusement parks), objects (e.g., skins, shapes, hair, clothing, vehicles, buildings, furniture), classes and training sessions, even Groups to join.
[To find a Group, access the Search facility (CTRL-F or apple key F or key return in the Search bar). Click on the Groups tab, then type in the name of the Group or the subject of the Group in which you are interested. (To join a Group, click on the Group's entry. If the Group features open enrollment, the Join button will appear for you to click. To join a closed group, you need an invitation from an officer of the group.)]
You can use Boolean operators in your search string or enclose the string in quotes to search for an exact match.
For example:
If you're looking for cat avatars,
Search: cat avatars
If you're looking for live music, but not rap,
Search: live music -rap
If you're looking for horses or dragons,
Search: horses OR dragons
If you're looking for a particular person, named, say, Fleep Tuque,
Search: "Fleep Tuque"
You can find some interesting locations looking in other residents' profiles for their "picks." Right-click on a avatar. Select Profile. Click on the Picks tab.
Finding Items on the Web
The SL Search API lets you search SL for events, people, destinations, groups, and wikis, via a web browser.
